Healing

The love of God is flowing through me now. I am revitalized and renewed.

In the silence of prayer, I listen with my heart and know that Spirit is moving in and through me in a healing flow.
I listen and know that the perfection I was created to be is being expressed by me as a healthy heart, a peaceful mind, strong bones, and robust lungs.
I am Loved. These three words are a message of life that every cell, organ, and function of my body responds to with renewal.
I am revitalized! I think with a new clarity of mind. I move with greater flexibility. I have unwavering energy. I am a living, breathing expression of Spirit and Love.

"My child, be attentive to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them escape from your sight;
keep them within your heart.
For they are life to those who find them,
and healing to all their flesh."
--Proverbs 4:20-22

One day, I will learn to be patient. I might as well start practicing now.

Daily Om for today, on the natural phases of grief. Whenever I am doing griefwork I consult Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, who said:

People are like stained glass windows,
they sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when darkness sets in,
their true beauty is only seen
if there is a light within.

Everyone encounters this natural process in life, whether they are aware of the phases or not. Change is inevitable; gains and losses are both part of the balance.

Healthy and Whole

I am a healthy and whole expression of divine life within me.
With every breath I take, I breathe in the life of God. With the words I speak, I affirm health and life. With each step I take, I walk in the light of God.
I am a child of God who is expressing the life of God within me. Divine life infuses me with health and wholeness. I know and affirm this truth when anything seems to challenge my health. The rejuvenating life of God restores me to health and wholeness.
As a child of God, health is my divine heritage, a natural state of wholeness that brings me peace of mind and assures me that I am continually being renewed.
I am healthy and whole--mind and body. Each day, I am new and improved. I am revitalized and ready for the day.

"Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness."--Matthew 9:35

I saved this one from the other day, and I've read it a few times. It is filled with good affirmations that I am needing now.

Relax

Relaxing in the security of God's presence, I am renewed and at peace.
With compassion for His disciples, Jesus said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while" (Mk. 6:31).
I am renewed as I take a few moments throughout the day to relax and rest in the awareness of God's presence. Having spent just a short time communing with my Creator helps me focus more completely on what is mine to do when I return to my daily activities.
In moments of prayer, I find true relaxation of the soul. I tune out all thoughts except those of God, and I experience God's presence within my own heart and mind.
As I rest in the presence of God, I am renewed by an awareness of my own inner strength and resolve and by a confidence in my own abilities. Secure in God's presence, I am both tranquil and rejuvenated.

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are
carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
--Matthew 11:28

Stress is an inevitability in life. We have eustress (good stress) like weddings, births, graduations, new jobs, etc. We have distress (bad stress) like deaths, job loss, divorce, etc. No matter what kind of stress we have, our body still reacts to it by kicking in the sympathetic nervous system. There are many physical reactions that accompany that; while the body is in "fight or flight" we may lose sleep, develop muscular tension, headaches, difficulty eating or eliminating, high blood pressure and other less visible problems that can be long term.

It is important that we take time to evaluate our stressors and defuse them by objectifying them as much as possible, developing a plan for dealing with the things we can control and learning to let go of or delegate the things we can't. Everyone has a limit to the amount of stress they can deal with at any given time, an individual limit that only they know the parameters of. It is better to avoid hitting those limits, or like those levees in New Orleans, the strain may break them and cause other problems in our bodies, our families and our work environments.

Take time every day to rest; if you are having trouble sleeping, take a half hour in a quiet room with soft music playing, or a warm bath with something that smells nice, like lavender or herbs. Avoid stimulants and substances that may alter your mental capablities, instead choosing mild foods and drinks that will sooth you and reduce pressure on your belly. Take a walk outside, get grounded.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it is that things don't go away, I don't need to be "on" all the time. If I do not renew myself I cannot be there to move forward and help as I'd like. Taking care of yourself is vital to being able to handle those good and bad stressors in your life, the inevitable stress of life.

I don't recall who posted this link. There is a zip file with a lot of good handouts/forms for dealing with trauma survivors related to disasters.

The files ae also individually available, as well as tsunami links, which are strangely appropriate, particularly for people working with the survivors in MS and AL.

Daily Om has some good stuff for me today. I am always looking for ways to balance myself... I think it is the Libra's quest. Even our relationships are a form of balance for us.

Improving myself by simplifying my life sounds like the most sensible option; over time I've had physical and emotional reactions to the stress of a complicated life, and things have managed to fall away even when I did not have the sense to release them. I cannot say that I am well or whole yet, but I think I am finally becoming happier. I'm sure that comfort and joy are forthcoming.

This one is from last week, but today seemed like a good day to share it. I have been doing candle rituals (ie candle magic) since I was a teenager. Occasionally I will add other elements to the ritual, such as annointing the candle with a specific oil, using a particular colored candle or combination of colors, or combining the burning of the candle with burning of incense and papers such as joss papers or things written on small scripts for a particular purpose.

Mostly, though, I burn white candles, usually the tall kind in a glass container you can find anywhere as sold for religious purposes. They burn a long time and you don't have to worry about wax getting all over everything. In my mind I use the candle flame to focus the energy I channel through me to others. Something about a candle burning has always spoken to me in a way that is more than the provision of light.

Healing

Divine life is expressing health and vitality through me now!
My body is healed by the indwelling presence of Divine life.
Divine life forms the essence of my being--I am healthy and whole.
God's healing power is active within me.
With faith and conviction, I speak life-affirming words of health and vitality:
God is here, ever-present within me and surrounding me.
Experiencing God's healing presence, I am blessed with renewal.
I am aglow with the vibrance of divine energy.
I am alive, well, and enthusiastic as every cell in my body is infused with vitality.
I am a radiant expression of God's healing energy, active within me.
Divine life is expressing health and vitality through me now!

"Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body."

The nine directions each have a special meaning. The direction of a totem animal expresses the aspects in which the animal is connected to you.

East animal guides you through spiritual challenges and guards your path to enlightenment.
West animal helps you find personal truths, inner answers and wants you to realize your ambitions.
North animal gives wise advice and reminds you to be thankful for what you have every day. North animal tells you when to speak and when to listen.
South animal protects your inner child - your innocence - and can remind you to be humble, trusting. South animal wants your personality to be balanced.
Left animal always walks beside you and protects your female side, your nurturing instincts. Left animal teaches you to appreciate nature and gives you advice about relationships and mothering.
Right animal always walks beside you and protects your male side, your protective and territorial instincts. Right animal represents your courage and warrior spirit.
Above animal reminds you that your time on Earth is not forever and represents your spiritual potential. Above animal guards your presence in the dreamtime and on the astral plane. This is the main animal that you might see yourself become in dreams or meditations.
Below animal keeps you grounded, teaches you about the inner Earth and reminds you to stay on the path to your goals.
Within animal is your main counselor that helps you reach your goals. Within animal wants you to find happiness without abandoning your personal truths. Within animal protects your sacred inner space, the place within that is yours alone and that is never shared except by invitation.

Today's Daily Om again... why are we so "good" sometimes at pleasing others that we forget who we are and what we desire/dream of? Why, again, when we are free to explore that and finally have some idea that we are working from an authentic vision at last, are we still resistant, still looking over our shoulders, still lacking motivation, zeal, energy? What is it, in other words, that prevents us from genuinely being who we are?

Got a link to this article today. I can't begin to tell you how it elevated my mood and gave me a feeling of connection.

No, never alone.

Aching for Love, Giving Birth to Soul

We all have our own paths there, and I do believe I can find the path that leads to a place where I can live fully and without pain.

Forgive

As I forgive, I open the way to new and fulfilling opportunities.

The past is the past. I let it go, releasing all negative feelings from it
and about it. Such feelings have no negative influence on me today nor will they
have at any time in the future. What does impact my life is how I think, feel,
and act right now.

Able and willing to be a positive influence on myself, I clear out all old
negative thoughts and feelings. I forgive myself for any past thoughts or
behaviors that have in any way limited me. I forgive others for any actions that
I may have felt were hurtful or limiting to me.

Now there is a place in my heart, in my mind, and in my life for new,
positive experiences. As I forgive, I open ways for me to enjoy new and
fulfilling opportunities and adventures.

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also
forgive you.”--Matthew 6:14

I'm sure a lot of people will be posting about Freedom and Patriotism and all that today, so I thought I'd focus more on inner freedom. This is Sunday's DW.

Serenity

Living from the serenity of my soul, I am renewed.

My physical body responds to my thoughts, my emotions, and conditions in my
environment. How I feel and act impacts my experience of life. At the depths of
my soul, however, I am spiritual in nature.

Should my world seem busy and complex, I turn within to rediscover the
serenity of my soul. In meditation and prayer, my awareness of God is
heightened. I am regenerated spiritually, which is beyond what a simple physical
rest, emotional comfort, or mental calm can bring me.

To the depths of my being, my awareness of God sustains me. Living from the
serenity of my soul, I am renewed.

"He makes me lie down in green pastures;

he leads me beside still waters;

he restores my soul.

He leads me in right paths

for his name's sake."

--Psalm 23:2-3

Healing

God's mighty healing power fills me now. I am whole, well, and free.
A challenge to my health may encourage me to seek medical attention or to
make a change in lifestyle. While these approaches may help in the healing
process, the true source of all healing is the renewing, restoring power of God
that is within me.

With God's spirit at the very core of my being, I am divine in nature. My
perfectly crafted body heals from the inside out, from the healing power of God
within me throughout every organ and tissue of my body. God's healing power is
active within each atom and cell.

Emotional, mental, and physical healing--all are results of the mighty
healing power of God within me. Aware that God's healing power fills me and
renews me, I live my life whole, well, and free.

"Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your
suffering" (Mk 5:25-34; Mt 9:20-22; Lk 8:43-48)
