All right. But I'm not challenging anyone else. I've been tagged twice, so I will go ahead and do it...note that I'm gauging these songs as the songs I'm most likely to be so totally into on the radio that I will cease to notice anyone else's presence and will begin singing at the top of my lungs, weeping, emoting, and perhaps all of the above. There are more, but these are off the top of my head.
List your 6 favorite songs (since I'm not challenging anyone, I'm going to do 12):
1. Norman Greenbaum --
Spirit in the Sky 2. Santana --
Oye Como Va3. Roberta Flack --
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face4. CCR --
I Heard It Through The Grapevine 5. Simon & Garfunkel --
Scarborough Fair/Canticle6. Bread --
If 7. Gordon Lightfoot --
Time in a Bottle8. Blood, Sweat & Tears --
And When I Die9. John Denver --
Annie's Song10. Rolling Stones/Bette Midler --
Beast of Burden11. Patsy Cline --
Crazy12. Joe Cocker --
You Are So BeautifulI know I'm dating myself, here. I do like a lot of popular music, classical, country, etc. also. But nobody asked for my Top 100 and I'm not sure I'd comply with a request :-p Any well considered list would also contain Cat Stevens and Jim Croce and a lot of bands, but I restrained myself. I hope this turns somebody on to listen to some oldies, though, and really listen to the lyrics. Some songs are dreck, but some are real poetry. For something completely different, try the
Johnny Cash version of the Roberta Flack song, or the Marvin Gaye version of "Grapevine". Of course, I'm probably preaching to the choir.
Here's your special gift for playing...
